The Institute of Catholic Theology

Anthony J. Fredette (Ph.D., University of Toronto) is a teacher and scholar of ancient languages and literature, including the ways that they have been understood and incorporated into later cultures. He is passionate about introducing students and general readers to the riches of the exegetical traditions of the past, with their deeply teleological vision of the world and eagerness to seek out and meditate intensively on true and beautiful things, wherever they are to be found. To these ends, he spends much of his time teaching high-school and college students how to read Latin and Greek texts in their original languages, exposing them to this literature in an immersive environment. He also produces scholarly editions and translations of medieval commentaries on the Bible and the works of the Roman poets Vergil and Statius
