Course Description
This course will give an overview of the theology of the Church as presented in the documents Second Vatican Council, in particular Lumen Gentium and Gaudium et Spes. From this, the student will know the key characteristics of the Church and its role in God's plan of salvation; the Christocentric nature of the Church; the understanding of Church as communion; the centrality of the universal call to holiness in the life of the faithful; the relationship of the Church to the modern world; and the distinct role of the laity in the life and mission of the Church and in the renewal of the temporal order.
